This year we headed to luxury hotel Gorse Hill in Surrey for our annual charity fundraiser

As Another Incredible Year Draws to a Close

It was time to get the glad rags on and head to our exclusive supercar, black-tie, charity ball.

For 2022, the backdrop for our Christmas celebrations was luxury hotel Gorse Hill in Woking, Surrey. It was all set to be a special one.

Special Guest | Martin Roberts

This year we were joined by none other than TV celebrity from ‘Homes Under The Hammer’ Martin Roberts, who conducted our auction with a certain flair that you’d expect from his sharp-witted personality.

Martin soon had us whipped up into a buying frenzy!

The huge sum raised was split between the club’s chosen charity for 2022 Alzheimer’s Society and Martin’s charity; The Martin Roberts Foundation. More on the amounts raised below.

On arrival, there was a rather swanky Champagne and canapé reception. During which, we had our resident photographer Mark Houldridge on hand to take photos of guests against our club backdrop.

After a great catch-up with friends old and new, we were called to dinner. It was time to head to our dining suite where all our tables awaited.

The room was filled to the brim with wonderful club members. This was the biggest Christmas party we’ve ever had.

After dinner, it was time to start the charity auction. Martin Roberts had us all laughing with his risqué jokes.

The bidding commenced and it was great fun seeing bids fly around the room. Some items were back and forth, back and forth but when the final hammer fell, we had collected almost £6,000 for our chosen charities.

A huge thank you to everyone that came along to this event but I have some special mentions to those that took part behind the scenes to make this night sensational!

Firstly to club friend Martin Roberts, who gave up his night to come and help raise some serious dosh for our chosen charity Alzheimer’s Society, as well as his own charity The Martin Roberts Foundation. Martin appeared thanks to headline club sponsor Vizion Insurance.

We’d like to shout out to Rachel E who sourced the venue and visited multiple times. She went on to negotiate the package that we all enjoyed. Rachel also oversaw the finer detail items like all the food orders and even creating the table names and beautiful seating plan.

To Phil E who assisted Rachel in all the prep work, created the lighting for the courtyard, arranged the parking, and helped set up the flags and banners on the day, as well as the morning after.

To Jenny B-C who heads up our charity push throughout the year. For this event, she was on the donation hunt leading up to the night. This also included going and physically picking up items from club members and sponsors. She was also, of course, a wonderful host with Martin Roberts on the mic.

To our amazing and glamorous wallet raiders; seen below as Cheryl G, Jill M, Jenny B-C, Simone P & Beth F who managed to sell £1,000 of raffle tickets in under an hour! Thanks to Daniel H for being their footrest for the photo.

To Mark H who helped set up and take down flags, banners, and other paraphernalia. He also gave up his evening to snap as many guests as he could before parking his camera up (He thinks one or two late arrivals may not have had a staged photo).

To Tony G who seemed to do the majority of the take down the morning after whilst we all had breakfast! Plus all the other volunteers for helping with the setup and take down.

And finally to all those that bid on the auctions and purchased raffle tickets.
