We pick up on day 7 of our European tour as we depart Monte Carlo heading west towards Montpellier in France. Tonight we will be staying in a beach hotel overlooking the Mediterranean Sea!
But first, we need to head out of Monte Carlo but not before banking some classic Monaco circuit hairpin photos of the cars…
In parts one and two we explored days 1-6 of the 10 day tour (1 day to represent each year since the club’s beginning). In this blog we follow days 7 to 8 as we journey from Monte Carlo, Monaco to Montpellier on the beach.

Day 7 – Monte Carlo, Monaco to Montpellier, France
After breakfast we had a lazy start to the day, with different teams making most of the city, before heading off to Montpellier, like heading to Monaco beach and the new marina recently completed.
As we travelled west though the country, past St Tropez and Marseille, to our beach side retreat in Montpellier for the night.
Arriving at this 5 star beachside hotel was surreal after being in the hustle and bustle of Monte Carlo! A real contrast with a view of the sandy beach and the waves crashing in. Paradise!
With our supercar parking upgraded to a gated compound, we were able to kick back and relax.
Tonight was an opportunity to walk down the beach to the local marina for dinner, with a huge amount of choice from fresh seafood to stone baked pizzas…. delicious.
Day 8 – Montpellier, France to Pouligny-Notre-Dame, France
Today we started our way back north up country to Pouligny-Notre-Dame to our Spa hotel. Tonight we had another grand dinner planned and this time club member Matt was to show us his skills as a magic circle magician!
The draw of dinner, the magic show and of course the smell of chilled white wine was enough of a motivator to get going!
Another social night as we enjoyed dinner together, taking over their restaurant. So many laughs and banter, sometimes you forget its a driving holiday!
As the sun goes down, we head to bed reflecting on the day and excited for the next!
Day 9 – Pouligny-Notre-Dame, France to Deauville Cedex, France
After another a hearty breakfast and the driver briefing, we set off, heading further north to Deauville Cedex. Tonight we’re staying at a famous 5 star hotel that hosts the stars for the Cannes Film Festival with all the top names staying there
The hotel also has a collection of over 2,500 photos of famous guests who have stayed there inc. Robert De Niro, Matthew McConaughey, George Clooney & Meryl Streep.
We arrived to rather soggy weather but this certainly did not dappen the club member’s spirits! Tonight we would have a choice of dining options with many choosing casual eating in the bar.
Some of the club members chose to do a tour of this famous hotel in different groups. One club member so keen to do one of the tours, he decided to do it on the way to the spa in his bath robe, making for a fabulous and comedic photo!
Tonight was the last night in Europe and the conversation was turning to tomorrow night already, the night of the club’s first ever Masquerade Ball! Not just any ball though, we had hired out the Harbour Hotel, Southampton’s only 5 star hotel!
For our club members, we had taken their black tie, shoes and masks before we left the UK. We kept them somewhere safe and had them lined up to be brought down to the hotel ready for our arriving guests. A very convenient feature that meant that club members didn’t need to carry all this extra gear around Europe with them. Plus, the dress attire would be in perfect shape ready for the ball.
