McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) | Surrey

We were delighted to be, once again, invited back to McLaren’s world-famous Technology Centre in Surrey.

When the invite landed this year, a whole bunch of club members jumped at the chance to step inside the home of this mega-successful F1 team’s worldwide HQ. It’s an invite-only affair – you simply can’t buy your way onto a tour here – so every visit feels like a genuine privilege.

This year’s trip took place in August, and once again the McLaren team made us feel like part of the family from the moment we arrived.

On arrival, we were greeted on the boulevard by the McLaren team, who escorted us through to see the current line-up of show cars on display. It’s always fascinating to see how far the range has evolved, and to hear first-hand from the team about the engineering and design decisions behind each model.

From there, we moved around the boulevard itself, which once again did not disappoint – an incredible array of McLaren machinery spanning decades, from championship-winning F1 cars to road-going icons, with plenty of rare and record-breaking models in between. Standing among that much motorsport and automotive history in one space never gets old.

As always, we were reminded before heading further into the building that photography wasn’t permitted beyond this point – which limits what we’re able to share with you here, but also meant we got to see some genuinely special, behind-the-scenes areas of the facility that most people never get access to. We won’t pretend it wasn’t hard keeping our phones in our pockets!

Following the fabulous tour, many of our members headed to a nearby local restaurant to enjoy a glorious al fresco lunch in the sunshine—the perfect, relaxed setting to reflect on the McLaren Factory experience and share plenty of laughs with great friends.
