🏁 High Octane & Heated Rivalries: Our 2026 Season Opener at TeamSport Farnborough

We kicked off the 2026 calendar in the best way possible—with the smell of rubber and the sound of…… electric karts! Our first event of the year saw a full grid of 17 club drivers descend on TeamSport Farnborough for an exclusive, private-hire Karting Grand Prix. Before the visors went down and the competitive streaks came out, the group gathered for a social dinner at the venue, fueling up and catching up after the winter break.

It wasn’t just the drivers in attendance either; a fantastic crowd of club member guests joined us to spectate, providing a great atmosphere and plenty of “supportive” heckling from the sidelines.

Once we hit the track, the friendly banter quickly transitioned into serious racing. The format was a classic test of skill: a Practice session to master the lines, a high-stakes Qualifying round to determine the grid, and the final Race to crown the evening’s champion.

Having the track entirely to ourselves meant the pace was relentless. It’s always fascinating to see how the precision required for a supercar translates to the nimble, aggressive world of indoor karting—and let’s just say, some of our members have clearly been practicing their late-braking manoeuvres!

After a slightly chaotic first lap, things settled down and fast laps started to get punched in!

While the racing was fierce, the spirit of the club was front and center during the trophy presentation. We celebrated our top three finishers Mark B, Stephen C & Nico G with well-earned trophies, but the real highlight was the “podium takeover,” where all 17 drivers piled onto the stage for a celebratory team photo. It was a perfect snapshot of what we’re about: serious competition on the track, followed by genuine camaraderie off it.

Everyone left with a smile, even if there were a few bruised egos (and perhaps a few sore ribs) to contend with the next morning.

This event wasn’t just a one-off evening of fun; it officially marks the start of our 2026 Karting Championship. We’ll be running several rounds throughout the year, with points awarded to the top 10 finishers of each race. The leaderboard is now live, and the hunt for the overall title has begun. If you missed out on this round, make sure to keep a close eye on the calendar—we’ll see who emerges victorious when we return for the next heat!

A huge thanks to all that took part in this event as well as the gang down at Teamsport Farnborough. Also a thanks to the team behind the scenes that put everything together.
