The Hendy Story – over 160 years and still counting!
Hendy Group began when Frederick Adolphus Hendy opened a bicycle shop in Whitchurch in 1859. His passion for all things on wheels leads him to be one of the first car owners in the country and go on to retail Benz and Bolle vehicles. Infact, we still have his first 1898 2 cylinder Benz on display!
Over the course of the following century, Hendy Group enjoyed a number of milestones, including becoming Britain’s first Ford dealer in 1910, and a Le Mans 24hr entry in both 1935 and 1936! During the Second World War, our Vincents Walk and Chandlers Ford premises and staff were used to build Spitfire planes following damage to the original Ministry of Aircraft Production’s nearby factory.
Today, we’re proud to be one of the UK’s largest Multi-Franchise, family controlled dealership networks, covering 8 counties across the South of England, with nearly 2000 employees, representing 21 brands from over 75 outlets.
Hendy Land Rover also joins Hendy Lotus and Hendy Jaguar as approved partners of our supercar club.
