Clay Shoot & Drive Out | Hampshire

We met at a gorgeous secret Hampshire manor house for clay pigeon shooting lessons on a glorious September Sunday.

The backdrop of Oakley Hall Hotel was breathtaking with its carefully manicured gardens. We took the opportunity to arrange a few cars at the front of the mansion for one or two photos.

First of all, it was time to catch up with old friends and make new ones over complimentary refreshments.

Then we were whisked away to the dedicated shoot area.

We were put into two groups to start the lessons. There were three distinct challenge formats:

  • Where the clay came towards you
  • Where it went away from you
  • Where it went across in front of you

Each of these required different skills and gun set up from the participant. A huge amount learned by all of us.

We were rewarded with fabulous weather so after the shooting, we kicked back and relaxed on the terrace with drinks.

Then it was time for a Sunday roast in our own private area of the mansion house. Lots of banter over food is always a great way to spend your Sunday.

After lunch, it was time to head out in convoy with a curated route of B roads, A roads, dual carriageways and even some motorways.
