Prison Break | A Cotswolds Tour

Ah, the allure of a supercar tour through the Cotswolds. It presents a rather compelling proposition, wouldn’t you agree?

Imagine, if you will, the gentle rumble of a finely tuned engine echoing through those picturesque, honey-stoned villages. The experience transcends mere automotive pleasure; it becomes an elegant dance between sophisticated engineering and the timeless beauty of the English countryside.

The appeal lies in the harmonious contrast. One is ensconced in the luxurious embrace of a high-performance machine, a testament to modern innovation and speed, yet one is simultaneously immersed in a landscape steeped in history and tranquillity.

The winding country lanes, framed by ancient dry-stone walls and verdant fields, offer a unique stage to appreciate the precision and agility of these exceptional vehicles.

It’s not about reckless velocity, but rather the nuanced joy of expertly navigating such breathtaking scenery, the tactile pleasure of the controls, and the subtle symphony of the powertrain as it effortlessly responds to one’s command. It’s a refined indulgence, a memorable exploration that engages the senses on multiple levels, leaving one with a profound appreciation for both the machine and the majestic setting.

Once again, a fantastical memory for the Four Marks Tours memory banks!

First of all, the entire squad met at Caffeine & Machine in Hampshire for our drivers briefing by tour veteran Stuart Stinson and the rest of the Four Marks Tours team.

Then after complimentary bacon rolls, we hit the road across country to our first stop over in Bath. On route, we headed south west to Bournemouth and along to Sand Banks where we took the ferry across to Studland.

Once back on dry land we had some incredible driving across to our first coffee stop at Corfe Castle.

Then it was back through the countryside heading to a café owned by movie director Guy Ritchie.

We then cut across to see our friends at Five Zero Supercars for a look around an incredible collection of super and hyper cars. It was supercool seeing our 2024 European driving tout video playing on their big screen (see our mobile-friendly feed using the red button above or below).

More driving and onto our first stay over for dinner, at this gorgeous 5 Star Hotel & Spa in Bath. What a wonderful end to day 1 of our 2 day tour.

After breakfast it was time for some more epic driving to our first stop of the day, Westonbirt School House & Gardens, a magnificent Grade I listed Victorian country house built between 1863 and 1870 for Robert Stayner Holford and designed by Lewis Vulliamy

We had a wonderful opportunity to display our cars at the front of the building, a look inside this spectacular building and then a photo shoot on the gardens with the house in the background.

More windy country driving followed and it was time to stop off at our friends at Classic Motor Hub for a spot of lunch and look around their impressive collection of Aston Martins, Jaguars and a huge plethora of other gems.

After lunch we were back on the road, taking in the stunning countryside and onto Jeremy Clarkson’s pub! It was great seeing The Grand Tour marquee first hand in the gardens. Colin seen here lifting Jeremy’s tractor one handed inside the pub!

For those naughty participants among us, it was time to take them to prison! Yes that’s right, staying overnight in a prison!

Oh, my word, staying at Oxford Castle and Prison was certainly an experience! Forget fluffy robes and mints on the pillow; this was all about thick stone walls, echoing corridors, and the distinct feeling that someone might have plotted an escape in your very room centuries ago.

While the beds were thankfully more comfortable than any medieval straw mattress, there was a definite thrill in nodding off knowing you were slumbering within the same walls that once held all sorts of historical characters – some rather less savoury than others! It was a wonderfully quirky and slightly spooky adventure, definitely a far cry from your average hotel stay!
